Job Purpose:

The Farm Manager will oversee the production and procurement of high-quality inbred rice seeds, ensuring they meet the approved targets while minimizing costs. The role involves working with contract growers, providing technical and logistical support, and staff development to maintain efficient operations and high seed quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Budget Preparation & Action Planning:

    • Prepare an annual budget based on set targets.
    • Develop a comprehensive action plan for inbred rice seed production activities.
  2. Technical & Logistical Support:

    • Provide technical assistance and logistical support to relevant teams.
    • Monitor and evaluate ongoing production activities to ensure target achievement.
  3. Resource & Input Management:

    • Ensure the availability of necessary inputs for seed production.
    • Manage and maintain all materials and resources for efficient seed production.
  4. Staff Development:

    • Organize meetings, training, and coaching for staff development.
    • Ensure accountability and growth of the team.
  5. Seed Quality Maintenance:

    • Ensure genetic purity (at least 98%) by implementing best practices in seed rouging, isolation, and post-harvest activities.
  6. Loss Management:

    • Minimize conversion loss in raw seed procurement and keep process loss below 3% at the Seed Processing Centers (SPC).
  7. Certification and Compliance:

    • Coordinate timely reporting to ensure seed certification with the Seed Certification Authority (SCA).
    • Maintain and update official records and reports, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all team members, protecting them from harm, abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
  • Promote safeguarding policies and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards.
  • Actively follow and encourage the safeguarding reporting procedures when necessary.

Additional Job Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills, analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and reporting expertise.
  • Knowledge in production planning, procurement systems, pest control, cost management, and staff management.
  • Ability to handle adverse situations and build effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership in strategic planning, budgeting, and decision-making.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Agriculture or Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Agriculture.
  • A minimum of a 2nd division/class or equivalent GPA/CGPA in all academic examinations.
  • Educational and experience requirements may be relaxed for exceptional candidates.

Experience Requirements:

  • 3-4 years of managerial experience in inbred rice seed production.
